My name is Katy Croft. I graduated with my mechanical engineering degree at Oakland in 2016, and currently I am pursuing my master’s of engineering management.

After one of the soccer camps when I was in high school, the head coach of the soccer team called me and we set up a meeting. My parents and myself went into his office and verbally committed to Oakland University as a sophomore and I was so excited.

My favorite memory, being a part of the soccer team, of course when you are on a team you want to win your senior year. We were at the Horizon League Tournament and we won, my senior year, and the winning goal was scored by my roommate, who had been through it all with me, my freshman roommate, all the way through. So it’s just stuff like that, that’s the most rewarding thing.

My favorite project at Oakland was my senior design project. We created an interactive display for the Leader Dogs for the Blind in the lobby and it was just a very rewarding and inspiring project to work on for such an amazing organization.

I am on the Young Alumni Chapter. Your involvement with Oakland doesn’t stop at graduation. You can come inspire the next generation and students that are still attending, you can give back financially. Whatever it is to give back to the place that gave you your career is something that’s really important.

Share your Oakland University story.
