Art and Art History

The department of Art and Art History at Oakland University offers B.A. degrees in art history, studio art and graphic design, as well as minors in all three fields. Additionally, students may earn a BA in studio art with a certification in K-12 art education. 363 majors are enrolled in these programs, supported by 14 full-time and 25 part-time faculty members. We are located on the beautiful OU campus, just a half hour’s drive from the galleries and museums of Detroit. Departmental programs include group visits to the Detroit Institute of Arts and to other public and private art collections in metropolitan Detroit.

Admittance into any of these programs is based on OU admittance policy. There are no current portfolio requirements for studio art or graphic design.
