The Center for Biomedical Research welcomes Assistant Professor Fabia Battistuzzi, Department of Biological Sciences, as its newest member.

Battistuzzi works in computational evolutionary biology, and currently holds grants from the National Institutes of Health (R15GM121981) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Her NIH grant investigates the evolution of genome complexity with the aim of identifying mechanisms and properties of the genetic innovations that produce pathogenic organisms. Her NASA grant is to develop innovative molecular timing applications to obtain accurate histories of early life.
