DESCRIPTION AND PRICE

The CMI Women's Retreat is scheduled for Saturday, September 30 - Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Camp Tamarack. 

The CMI Women's Retreat is designed to promote social consciousness, self-awareness, and leadership skills in female students. This retreat also explores the issues facing women as they navigate the university setting. Any Oakland University undergraduate student is welcome to attend the retreat. Space is limited and allotted on a first come, first served basis.

The Women's Leadership Retreat is typically a two day commitment of time in which you will not only learn something about yourself, but also have a chance to think about your next steps as a successful student and leader.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS
Our sessions have covered various topics including conflict management, financial literacy, leadership and career, self-awareness, goal setting, and much more.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND MEALS
Shared room with two single beds includes a dresser, clothes rack, heat and air-conditioning. Lodging and all meals as well as transportation to and from the off campus retreat site are included in the cost.

REGISTRATION AND CANCELLATION POLICY

In order to attend the retreat, you must complete the registration form and make your $10 payment to the CMI office in 104 North Foundation Hall (please note that your registration is not complete until your $10 payment is made). In addition, you must attend the retreat information session on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 5pm in room 125, Oakland Center. If you do not attend the meeting, you will not be able to attend the retreat. If the time of the meeting conflicts with your class schedule, please call the office at (248) 370-4404 to set up an individual meeting with Nicole Lucio or Denise Thompkins-Jones.

FAQ

Do I have to attend the entire retreat? 
Yes. Every aspect of the retreat is important and only those that can attend the retreat in full should register.

Is transportation provided?
Yes. We will meet at Hamlin Circle and a bus will transport us to and from the retreat location.

Can I pick my roommate?
No. Part of the retreat experience includes networking, building new relationships and pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zone.

What should I bring?
A list of items to bring will be provided at the information meeting.

What if I have class?
In order to attend the retreat you must be present from beginning to end yet we do not encourage students to miss class. If you wish to attend the retreat and have class, you should follow up with your instructor before registering to determine how your performance in the class will be impacted.

What if I can’t attend the information meeting?
The information meeting is mandatory in order to attend the retreat. If you cannot attend due to your class schedule, you must call the office at (248) 370-4404 to schedule an individual appointment with Denise Thompkins-Jones or Nicole Lucio. 

 

Men's
Leadership Retreat
The CMI Men's Retreat is designed to promote success in college and in life, leadership development,  self-awareness, and leadership skills in male students. This retreat explores issues facing men, African American Males in particular, as they navigate life as college students.

All speeches and workshops are conducted in an interactive, energetic, and enthusiastic format. Through this retreat the young men learn to resolve educational problems such as being accountable for their academic achievement, overcoming mitigating behavioral issues and staying on the path to graduation.

Any Oakland University undergraduate student is welcome to attend the retreat. Registration for this event begins in September. Space is limited and allotted on a first come, first served basis.

The Men's Leadership Retreat is a small commitment of time in which you will not only learn something about yourself, but also have a chance to think about your next steps as a successful student and leader.

Further, the retreat helps the young men to:
  • Implement solution-based strategies
  • Help students realize their full potential
  • Manage and Sustain change and growth
  • Achieve maximum results in every endeavor
  • Key leadership development skills 
  • Steps to successfully complete college
  • How to develop a "can do" attitude
