Leadership Retreats

Our leadership retreats are designed to empower OU students through intentional workshops, speakers and activities that prepares them to be more successful, thoughtful, and engaged.

Women's Leadership Retreat

The CMI Women's Retreat is designed to promote social consciousness, self-awareness, and leadership skills in female students. This retreat also explores the issues facing women as they navigate the university setting. Any Oakland University undergraduate student is welcome to attend the retreat. The Women's Leadership Retreat is typically a two day commitment of time in which you will not only learn something about yourself, but also have a chance to think about your next steps as a successful student and leader. 

Breakout Sessions and Workshops
Our sessions have covered various topics including conflict management, financial literacy, leadership and career, self-awareness, goal setting, and much more.

Accommodations and Meals
Shared room with two single beds includes a dresser, clothes rack, heat and air-conditioning. Lodging and all meals as well as transportation to and from the off campus retreat site are included in the cost.

Men's Leadership Retreat

The CMI Men's Retreat is designed to promote success in college and in life, leadership development,  self-awareness, and leadership skills in male students. This retreat explores issues facing men, African American Males in particular, as they navigate life as college students.

All speeches and workshops are conducted in an interactive, energetic, and enthusiastic format. Through this retreat the young men learn to resolve educational problems such as being accountable for their academic achievement, overcoming mitigating behavioral issues and staying on the path to graduation.

Any Oakland University undergraduate student is welcome to attend the retreat. Registration for this event begins in September. Space is limited and allotted on a first come, first served basis.

The Men's Leadership Retreat is a small commitment of time in which you will not only learn something about yourself, but also have a chance to think about your next steps as a successful student and leader.

Further, the retreat helps the young men to:

  • Implement solution-based strategies
  • Help students realize their full potential
  • Manage and Sustain change and growth
  • Achieve maximum results in every endeavor
  • Key leadership development skills 
  • Steps to successfully complete college
  • How to develop a "can do" attitude
