The School of Health Sciences’ Board of Advocacy and Resource Development (BOARD) brings together a diverse group of health leaders in support of academics, research and community engagement. Collaboratively, the BOARD is instrumental in supporting the School of Health Sciences' transformative learning and innovative outcomes in health.

“Our BOARD membership provides an impressive array of experience and connectivity reaching across Southeast Michigan and beyond,” says Dr. Kevin Ball, dean and professor of the School of Health Sciences (SHS). “Each member is committed, in their own career, to help bring about positive change in community health and well-being.”

Of particular note is the BOARD’s support of the unique ECLIPSE Leadership Initiative offered through SHS. The BOARD has been instrumental in developing this professional development program tailored to health students through financial support and by providing opportunities for students to volunteer.

Furthermore, the BOARD supports and helps plan the annual Healthology Symposium in a multitude of ways. Members serve on the committee, lead discussions, participate as panelists and network to advocate for participation, helping to attract financial resources in support of the event.

“Our BOARD members provided exemplary advocacy for our school’s programs and events,” Dr. Ball says. “We are incredibly grateful for the continuous ideas, networking and resources they provide, and look forward to this group’s influences as they help to expand outreach and create a greater impact for many years to come.”

Since its inception in 2017, the BOARD has grown immensely and now includes seventeen members with diverse backgrounds and experiences from a variety of health industries and beyond.
