Dr. Carolyn Tieppo came to Oakland University in 2012 with several years of experience in higher education.  She is currently the Director of the Nurse Practitioner and Post-Masters Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs in the School of Nursing. In 2017 she was appointed as the Director of Undergraduate Program in the School of Nursing and served in this role for 3 years. She serves on the Evaluation Committee in the School of Nursing and on the University Telehealth Taskforce. Dr. Tieppo shares her expertise at local, State and National conferences and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Journal of Professional Nursing. Dr. Tieppo is active in her professional and local community with past leadership roles in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioners Faculties (NONPF) and the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners (MICNP). She currently serves as the Faculty Adviser to the OU Chapter of MICNP.  Dr. Tieppo is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and Sigma Theta Tau, Theta Psi Chapter.  As an advanced practice provider, her clinical background includes pediatric mental health, school health, pediatric primary care and family health.  Other experience includes pediatric emergency care, pediatric acute care and neonatal intensive care.  She maintains a clinical practice as an Advanced Practice Provider/Nurse Practitioner in the Dept of Pediatrics at Henry Ford Health in the care of vulnerable and at-risk populations, with a focus on family health and pediatric disease prevention and treatment adherence, an area of her research.
