Thirty-Fifth International Social Philosophy Conference, sponsored by the North American Society for Social Philosophy with the Oakland Department of Philosophy will take place at Oakland University from July 19 through the 21st. Presentations and talks will be given all three days, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha. Dr. Mona is a pediatrician and public health advocate whose research revealed that children in Flint, Michigan were exposed to harmful levels of lead in their drinking water after government missteps. She now leads a non-profit organization aimed at mitigating the impact of this crisis. Dr. Mona’s work is chronicled in the forthcoming What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City, which will be available for sale before and after her talk, and which is in development for a major motion picture.
