Although this transparent crystal closely resembles ordinary window glass, it exhibits extraordinary properties that set it apart from others.

Each year, the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) hosts the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl National Competition, during which teams of undergraduate students from colleges and universities across the nation discuss issues using a set of cases that were drawn from real-life ethical challenges in education, business, life, and politics.At this year’s competition, which will take place Feb. 22 and 23 in Norfolk, Va., two of the 17 cases that will be used were authored by Payton Bucki, a 2024 political science and social work graduate and current Master of Public Administration student at Oakland University.

Meadow Brook Theatre, Michigan’s largest producing professional theatre, has been located on the campus of Oakland University since it was established in 1966 when, under the direction of Woody Varner and Don O’Dowd, they broke ground to bring Matilda Wilson’s vision of having a professional theatre on campus to life.This year, as Meadow Brook presents its 58th season, a new chapter in the relationship between Meadow Brook Theatre and Oakland University has begun. Meadow Brook Theatre, working with the Cabinet of Oakland University, started a collaboration between Oakland University’s School of Music Theatre and Dance (OUSMTD) and Meadow Brook Theatre (MBT).

Students presented in-depth research on the politics of military coups in Africa's Sahel region to U.S. diplomats and other foreign services specialists as part of a Diplomacy Lab partnership with the U.S. State Department. A team of Oakland University students who spent the semester researching the politics of military coups in West and Central Africa recently presented their findings to State Department officials tasked with shaping U.S. foreign policy in those regions.
