Thomas A. Tanghe

Tom Tanghe is the City Manager of Auburn Hills. Tom possesses an Associate of Applied Science Degree, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Public Administration, and is currently pursuing his doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership. Tom has been in local government management since 1990, with all of his professional career experience in Oakland County. Hired by Auburn Hills in 2001 as Assistant City Manager and Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations, he was promoted in June of 2014 to City Manager. He has numerous professional development achievements and recognition, including the completion of the Senior Executives Institute from the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. In 2011, Tom received the Excellence in Local Government Award from the Michigan Local Government Management Association, now Michigan Municipal Executives; and in 2015, received the Alumni Community Service Award from Oakland University. He is the founder and current board member of the Auburn Hills Community Foundation, a member of the Oakland University College of Arts & Sciences Ambassadors, and the Sponsor of the Oakland University Student Chapter of the International City/County Management Association. He is honored to be selected as the civic leader to serve on the Board of Advocacy and Resource Development as a means to assist in facilitating the community outreach initiatives of the School of Health Sciences. He is an enthusiastic supporter and regular volunteer at Oakland University, and a current student as well.
