Please note: Admission to a Music, Theatre, or Dance program is a 3 step process
  1. Apply to the University by the March 1 deadline for academic scholarships. Most students qualify for academic awards and other financial aid. When you have applied and have been accepted to the University, it makes the department scholarship process much easier. If you have not yet applied to OU, please complete the Application for Undergraduate Admissions.

  2. Once your application has been submitted to the University, apply to the (MusicTheatreDance) program of your choice to schedule the required entrance audition.

  3. You must perform a successful entrance audition before you are admitted into the program. You will be notified of your results ONLY AFTER you have been fully admitted to the university.

Theatre Program Audition Guidelines

At Oakland University, auditioning for the Theatre program is an opportunity for you to show your personality, your strengths and the traits that make you a unique performer/technician.The more prepared you are, the more relaxed and focused you’ll be. We all want you to have the chance to do your best work.

All candidates must provide a headshot or recent photograph, as well as a single-page resume listing productions worked on, roles played and training. Scrapbooks, press clippings and videotapes will not be accepted.

For additional guidelines and suggestions to assist in your audition preparation, please download our Audition Guide.

Majors and non-majors are welcome to audition for a variety of theatre productions throughout the school year.

Student-directed productions

Students select, direct and perform in these shows, which include the annual Halloween tribute to the best horror film directors of all time. Check first floor Actors ‘n’ Techies bulletin board for audition notices. Student-directed one act plays are also part of Directing I and II classes.
