AP Assembly - Letter from the President

Dear fellow APs and Oakland University community members,

The AP Assembly is a professional organization comprised of all Administrative Professionals on campus. We serve in an advising capacity to the university president; have representation on the University Senate, as well as various Senate committees; provide opportunities for connection with our six committees (Recognition; Communication; Community Engagement; Nominations and Elections; Professional Development; and Voice of the AP); and strive to develop community across campus. 

The elected, volunteer executive board provides leadership guided by our AP Assembly constitution. Please look for our bi-monthly AP Assembly Newsletters for updates on upcoming events or check our meeting and events link on this website. The 2021-2022 Executive Board looks forward to serving you this year through our goal to best meet the needs of APs.

As your President for the 2021 to 2022 academic year, my goal is to lead AP Assembly with inclusion, transparency, and accountability.

  • Inclusion: While AP Assembly primarily serves APs, all of the Oakland University community is invited to join our meetings and participate in our programming. Additionally, every Employee Resource Group (ERGs) has a dedicated spot on our meeting agenda to provide updates and share on-going activities. Further, any other committee or on campus organization is welcome to provide updates and share their events at our meetings and through our newsletter. We welcome your contributions and involvement.
  • Transparency: We will continue to make all AP Assembly monthly meeting agendas and minutes accessible and available to all through our newsletter and through our shared google drive. Additionally, every AP Assembly monthly meeting will be recorded to share with those who might not have been able to attend the meeting or wish to re-watch the meeting. Access information will be available through the newsletter and also through this webpage.
  • Accountability: This year, each executive board member will set goals for themselves (President, President-Elect, Past President, Secretary, Treasurer, Senators) or for their respective committee (Members-at-Large for Community Engagement; Professional Development; Voice of AP). These will be linked from this page once they are established and will help guide their initiatives, offerings, and programming this year.

In addition to these goals, I will be working with our executive board to create and distribute an all AP survey before the end of the summer 2021 semester. We want to hear from you directly how we can best serve you into the next academic year and beyond.

I look forward to meeting and engaging with all APs and the Oakland University community at future meetings and events. I am excited to embrace all of the opportunities to come for AP Assembly in 2021-2022.
