Calendar Policy

Calendar Policy:

Oakland University's online calendar is a tool to market university events to a broad audience and should be used as such. To add events to the calendar, the following criteria must be met:

  • Events must be open to the public, even if registration or RSVPs are required. Committee meetings and other events with limited guest or attendee lists will not be included on the university-wide calendar.
  • Events must be sponsored or hosted by officially recognized campus departments, units or organizations, registered student groups, or by sponsored departmental or campus organizations.
  • Student groups must post events to the GrizzOrgs calendar and adhere to the guidelines set forth in the Code of Student Conduct. See directions on how to ensure those events display on the main OU calendar.
  • Events posted to the OU Calendar should be held on campus or within Southeast Michigan. Special trips should be promoted outside of the OU Calendar.

If you have more than 5 events to add at any given time, please use our bulk calendar request spreadsheet. Be sure to follow instructions on this document to submit for inclusion on  the calendar. 

To ensure your event is properly submitted, please follow these instructions:

  • Plan to submit your event to the calendar at least one week prior to the start of the event. A longer lead time is preferred.
  • To submit an event, select the “Add an Event” link on the calendar site and complete the submission form.
  • All events must include an event title, date, time and location as well as an event contact name and phone number. Be specific about the location in the location field and use specific building names and room numbers. Do not abbreviate building names. You also must indicate the sites to which you would like the event posted to, such as the main OU calendar, College of Arts and Sciences calendar, etc.
  • A departmental or event URL should be included in the description whenever available.
  • After completing the form, click the submit button. Your event will be reviewed and approved by a calendar administrator prior to posting. The calendar administrator may contact you with questions for clarification and may edit your submission if necessary. Calendar administrators also reserve the right to deny or delete calendar requests due to event duplication on the calendar, inappropriate content, or if they do not meet university policies or guidelines, do not support university objectives, or if they violate local, state or federal law or Oakland University campus regulations.

Please Note: To ensure your event is not scheduled on a religious observance day, please check the OU diversity calendar prior to planning.
