A photo of the constitution against the American flag

In the aftermath of renewed critiques of multiculturalism, this panel explores the ongoing challenges that the Arab American community continues to encounter in the United States. This panel aims to serve a reminder of the progress made in the struggle for civil rights and the obstacles that lie ahead.

How did we arrive at this moment? What is it like to endure such treatment? What are the ways forward?

These and other considerations will be explored by the panel, including:

Ahmad Nabil Abuznaid, Esq.
Director of the National Network for Arab American Communities, an ACCESS institution

De Witt S. Dykes, Jr.
Associate Professor of History, Oakland University

Kellie D. Hay
Associate Professor of Communication and Journalism, Oakland University

Dawud Walid
Executive Director of the Michigan Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations
