Mark Champion and Terry Foster, two of the preeminent names in sports media in Michigan, will be teaching courses this summer and fall at Oakland University.

Champion, the voice of the Detroit Pistons, is offering his popular Sports Broadcasting class (JRN 480) during Oakland’s Summer II session, which runs from July 5 to August 24 and is scheduled for 1-4:20 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Champion brings 33 years of experience doing play-by-play for the National Football League and 23 seasons broadcasting NBA basketball.

"The class is designed to introduce students to the world of sports broadcasting, and that includes a lot of networking. And student-athletes can get a valuable perspective on what it’s like to be on the other side of the mic," explains Garry Gilbert, director of OU's Journalism program.
