Kim R. Madeleine is a special lecturer in the Journalism Department, where he teaches a variety of advertising and public relations courses. He has more than 30 years of experience in the advertising and public relations field, and is the founder and president of KRM Communications, LLC, a public relations and marketing communications firm located in Livonia.

Madeleine began teaching at Oakland University in 1990 and earned his B.A. degree, with a major in journalism, from Michigan State University, where he also did his post-graduate work in advertising. He also earned the prestigious Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation from the Public Relations Society of America and has been a featured speaker on the topics of public relations and marketing at many local and national business seminars and conferences.

Madeleine also spent 14 years as a YMCA and AAU boys’ basketball coach. He has played in rock bands since he was 15 and was “almost” a rock star in the 70s, until a recording contract with a major record company slipped through his band’s hands and helped convince him to finish his college education so he could get a “real” job. However, his love of music never waned, and you can now find him on weekends in area clubs singing and playing guitar in his classic rock band, The Clatter.

You also will likely find Madeleine teeing it up at area golf courses every Thursday morning at dawn during the spring and summer. And while he is a “scratch” guitar player, he gave up keeping his golf handicap years ago and prefers to focus on the beauty of the golf courses he plays instead of his ever-changing swing.
