Justin Reifert is an Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies in the Department of English at Oakland University. He is a director and producer whose films have screened at festivals nationally and internationally. As a filmmaker, he searches for the small stories that illuminate the personal side of larger political or societal issues. In another life, he worked on national security issues for the U.S. Department of Defense. He is also interested in the use of media in political campaigns and produces political tv, radio, and social media ads, including ones for Stacey Abram’s gubernatorial race in Georgia in 2018 and Val Demings' U.S. Senate race in Florida.
