Oakland University is proud to support veteran students with financial resources and services to ensure higher education is accessible and affordable. We’re devoted to providing an environment that helps veterans, service members and family members achieve their academic and personal best, including investing in higher education.
Veterans Aid
All veteran students qualify for in-state tuition rates.
To take advantage of financial assistance, you should always complete the FAFSA beginning October 1 for the upcoming school year. Learn more about applying for financial assistance to make the process seamless.
OU students who are members of the National Guard are eligible to apply for the OU Michigan Army and Air National Guard Award. Once the application and all other certification documents have been received, we will notify recipients of the award.
Additionally, the Michigan National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program provides tuition assistance to members of the Michigan National Guard attending any public, private, university, vocational school, technical school, or trade school located in Michigan, including Oakland University. Please review the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act for more information.
Oakland University provides the College Financing Plan available in MySail under the financial aid menu. Additionally, the following websites provide consumer financial tools to help make decisions about higher education:
- Department of Defense Tuition Assistance DECIDE provides a comparison tool to aid participants of the Department of Defense’s Tuition Assistance program in making informed choices on schools and education programs.
- College Scorecard helps you evaluate options in selecting a college.
- Paying for College allows you to receive detailed financial information for up to three schools at one time.
College Navigator provides information about a school’s tuition and fees, retention and graduation rates, use of financial aid, student loan default rates, and more.
