Why I joined the Board: I joined the board because I am so proud of all the things that Oakland University offers and especially the Honors College. I want others to have a better understanding of why they should take advantage of the Honors College. I also enjoy helping out students as they are trying to determine what they want to do with their lives. What better place to do that than with honors students who put time and effort into their education.
Best HC Memories: My favorite part of being in the Honors College was also the most challenging part of my college experience and that was my senior project. It forced me to get out of my comfort zone and not only come up with a project, but also find a faculty sponsor, and go into a large corporation to do research. Through that project, I built a relationship with a professor that stayed in touch with me after graduation and even took me to lunch a year later to talk to me about how I felt my education prepared me for my career. Interesting fact: My project had to do with change management and implementing a new software system. Today I work designing new functionality within software that my company develops.
