About Macomb-OU Incubator
The Macomb-OU Incubator supports economic development in Southeast Michigan by accelerating high-tech businesses, cultivating academic innovation and encouraging research and development. Mac-OU Inc's mission is to provide comprehensive development and support services to startup and emerging businesses, create and support an entrepreneurial climate, commercialize new technologies, attract investment, and create new jobs in Southeast Michigan. Mac-OU Inc aims to be the regional hub for accelerating economic growth in the targeted industries of defense, homeland security, advanced manufacturing and technology.

The facility is ready to host a multitude of companies.
Our Partner Organizations
The Macomb-OU Incubator is located within the Technology Advancement SmartZone of Sterling Heights and is a partnership between the City of Sterling Heights, Macomb County and Oakland University. The incubator is housed in the Velocity Center, an initiative and collaboration center that is a catalyst for launching, developing, retaining and attracting commercial enterprise within its target industries.
Defense & Homeland Security
Nearly 600 established companies in Macomb County are currently performing defense contract business, accounting for 63% of Michigan’s total defense work. From 2000 to 2010, defense was a more than $26 billion dollar industry for the county. Known as the “Arsenal of Defense,” Macomb County has the workforce, experience, knowledge and resources to strive in a competitive industry.
Over 60% of Michigan’s advanced manufacturing employment is located in the 8 county Southeast Michigan region. With an existing manufacturing base and capabilities in Macomb County, advanced manufacturing is a great fit for the incubator.
