Student financial aid application period approaching

Faculty and staff are encouraged to remind students that the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available beginning on Saturday, October 1, at studentaid.gov. Those interested in receiving support should submit their applications as early as possible to receive priority processing. 

Additionally, more than 300 Oakland University annual endowed scholarships are available through a single, online application accessible on the scholarship search and application website. Forms must be submitted by March 1, 2023.

Students with questions about the FAFSA, the scholarship application and how to finance their education should contact Student Financial Services. 

Ways to Support Students Seeking Financial Aid 

• Share a Moodle post on October 1 encouraging students to complete the FAFSA and the annual endowed scholarship application. Suggested content for the post was shared in the Provost’s Weekly Announcements September 9, 2022.

• Make an announcement in class during the last week of September to remind students about the applications.

• Offer points for completing the FAFSA. Students can show proof of a confirmation email while also maintaining their privacy. 

• Share information about academic department scholarships.
