Dr. Chaunda L. Scott, a professor of human resource development (HRD) in the School of Education and Human Services, was recently selected as a recipient of the 2023 Laura Bierema Excellence in Critical HRD Award presented by the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD).
The honor seeks to highlight the exemplary research, scholarship and activism of HRD scholars who actively challenge field and industry norms while advancing important social justice perspectives and principles.
Scott, who serves as graduate coordinator of OU's Human Diversity Inclusion and Social Justice Graduate Certificate Program in the Department of Organizational Leadership, is an accomplished and respected workforce diversity and diversity education expert. Her scholarly, research and teaching interests are in workforce diversity policies and practices, adult diversity education, eradicating societal racism, antiracism education and social justice practices.
In addition to this work, she is founder and president of OU's Diverse Voices Conference, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
Alone and in collaboration with colleagues, she has published several diversity and workforce diversity focused books, articles, and book chapters, as well as shared her findings across the globe.
Preceding this most recent honor, Dr. Scott was presented with a Fulbright Specialist Award, received an Educator of the Year Award from the Niagara Foundation – Michigan Chapter, was a 2020 recipient of the R. Wayne Pace Book of the Year Award from the AHRD, and has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Education Professors in Michigan by Online Schools Michigan.
