Oakland University faculty are invited to participate in a research survey on Self-Directed Teaching (SDT) – the most recent advancement in teaching theory since andragogy and flipped classrooms were introduced over two decades ago (Mohiyeddini, 2024, Frontiers in Medicine).

SDT provides a theory-driven framework to help educators take ownership of their professional growth, teaching goals and reflective practices. While SDT has long been emphasized for students, it also fills a critical gap by focusing on educator autonomy and development.

Approved by the OU IRB (#IRB-FY2025-47), this study is designed to collect valuable insights for supporting faculty in diverse teaching contexts.

Those with questions should contact Dr. Changiz Mohiyeddini, Professor of Behavioral Medicine & Psychopathology in the OUWB School of Medicine, at [email protected].
