Oakland University understands the importance of the advising relationship to students and has invested in providing students with a high quality advising experience.

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) asks first-year students and seniors a series of questions about their educational experiences while in college. The charts above show how Oakland University students rate the quality of their interactions with academic advisers.

For several years, OU first year students have consistently rated their advisers more favorably than students nationally and at peer institutions. In the most recent year, OU seniors gave their advisors similarly high ratings.

The NSSE collects information from first-year and senior students about the characteristics and quality of their undergraduate experience. More results from NSSE 2020 are available on the OIRA web section.
