Calyampudi Radhakrishna - August 22, 2023

Colleagues,

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Dr. Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao, who passed away on August 22, 2023. Dr. Rao was professor emeritus at Pennsylvania State University and Research Professor at the University at Buffalo.

Professor Rao received an honorary degree from Oakland University in May of 2002 for his inspiring academic career dedicated to the betterment and promotion of science. His fundamental work in statistics defined the role and practices of the statistical thinking as it exists today. He also had a significant impact on other sciences.

Throughout his esteemed career, Dr. Rao provided strong leadership and mentorship to many for the pursuit of science.

Services have already taken place for Dr. Rao.

On behalf of the entire University community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Rao family and friends during this very difficult time.
