The Oakland University Police Department is continuing an active investigation into a robbery reported to have taken place on the second floor of Oakview Hall in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 6.
Investigators have reviewed many hours of video footage from an extensive number of security cameras present both inside and outside the building in efforts to locate and identify suspects. They have also interviewed residents on the floor to obtain additional information.
The OUPD is interviewing suspects as new information surfaces, but no suspects have yet been taken into custody, The OUPD welcomes information about the case from university community members. Tips can be submitted by calling (248) 370-3331 or by providing information anonymously online.
As the investigation continues, police have increased Oakview Hall building checks conducted by officers and University Housing has increased resident assistant rounds in the building. University Housing has also increased daily hours during which ID card access is required to enter the building.
Student residents are reminded that campus safety is a responsibility shared by all campus community members, and that student housing building doors should never be propped open or individuals allowed into housing facilities without using security swipe devices.
