The Oakland University Police Department (OUPD) is investigating the report of a domestic violence/stalking incident reportedly committed by a male suspect in the Oakland Center. He is known to the victim and has been identified to police, but left campus after the incident.

The suspect is described as a 54-year-old male standing 6 feet tall and weighing 270 pounds. He is bald, has a black and white beard, and is known to drive a 2019 White Chevy Impala.

Police report that this individual is currently banned from campus and ask anyone observing him on campus to call the OUPD at (248) 370-3331 immediately.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact the OUPD at the number provided above.

In similar situations, the Oakland University Police Department recommends that campus community members remember and utilize the following stalking prevention tips:

  • Trust your instincts. Take any suspected stalking case seriously and contact police if you feel you are in danger.
  • Take steps to avoid any known vulnerabilities in stalking situations, including varying your daily routine periodically.
  • Watch for escalation of the stalker's behavior as you try to prevent contact and interaction.
  • Develop a safety plan with help from a local domestic violence shelter or victim services program.
  • Keep a log of every stalking incident including the date, time, what happened, and the names and phone numbers of any witnesses.
  • Make your family, friends and neighbors aware that you are being stalked so that they can keep an eye out for unusual behavior or circumstances.
  • Seek a personal protective order.
