The OU Math Corps program, an academic enrichment and mentoring program benefitting middle school students in Pontiac, is seeking the support of all Oakland University community members as it vies to win up to $10,000 through First State Bank's "BanksGiving" program.
In addition to helping young learners grasp the fundamentals of mathematics and advanced topics, Math Corps strives to build a sense of community based on the values of kindness and integrity. It also seeks to empower students with educational opportunities that lead to bright futures.
The program has been named a BanksGiving finalist by First State Bank and is now in the running to win the $10,000 top prize if it garners the most online votes among the community organizations competing.
First State Bank will also award $5,000 prizes to the top organizations in the following categories: Art/Culture, Human Supportive Services, Children and Families, and Environment/Community Improvement.
