Bladez of Glory Barber Shop of Franklin Park, Illinois, created six unique haircuts on site during the exhibit opening on January 16, literally altering the viewer’s experience from spectator to performer. This work includes a three-channel video.

Carlos Rolón/Dzine’s first Michigan Exhibition

OU GALLERY. Through April 3, 2016. Free and open to the public.

Carlos Rolón has been recognized for his elaborately crafted paintings, ornate sculptures and works that emerge from American, Latino and uniquely based subcultures. A first-generation immigrant of Puerto Rican descent, Rolón juxtaposes American ideas of luxury and conspicuous consumption with urban artifact in the OU Gallery’s “Commonwealth.” The exhibit’s title is a nod to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the “common wealth.” Biography.
