Why was it important for you to be involved in Oakland University Student Congress?

Student Congress aims to create an institutional environment for current and future Golden Grizzlies where they feel empowered by their representatives to take action regarding concerns they may have. Being at Oakland University for over three years now and loving every minute of it, I was inspired to give back and pursue a position that would allow me to affect change.

What are some things Student Congress hopes to accomplish this year?

Truly receiving that “college experience” in terms of social connections, school pride and excitement students feel when coming to OU is what we aim to enhance within our term. We look to partner with students, faculty and staff to bring about more events focused on school spirit that will help build those strong connections to the University.

Why is engagement through campus activities important?

In my personal, humble opinion, college is the time to break out of your comfort zone and really “find yourself.”

I believe that getting involved in student activities and events allows you the opportunity to meet new people, make new connections, and discover passions and interests that you may have never known existed. At the very least, it’s a chance for you to have a little fun on campus and show some school pride.
