Oakland University is part of the new Michigan Assured Admission Pact
Beginning this fall, Michigan high school graduates who have earned a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale) will be admitted to the participating universities.

Oakland University is one of 10 Michigan public universities to come together to form the Michigan Assured Admission Pact (MAAP), a bold new initiative that will streamline the college admissions process, boost enrollment and help students realize their full educational and career potential.

Beginning this fall, Michigan high school graduates who have earned a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale) will be admitted to the participating universities. This makes the admissions process more efficient and transparent, removing much of the anxiety and uncertainty about college admissions.

"We know that a college education directly leads to good paying job opportunities in high-demand fields while providing upward social mobility for our graduates,” said Dawn Aubry, vice president of Enrollment Management at OU. “That, in turn, leads to elevated prosperity for our local communities, our region, and the state of Michigan."

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer added in a news release “The MAAP is proof of what’s
possible when we come together to create opportunity for tens of thousands of Michiganders. In tandem with the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, we are lowering costs, building a skilled workforce, and leading the future of advanced manufacturing, technology, and so many other industries.”

Other schools joining Oakland in joining the MAAP for the Fall 2024 admission cycle include:

Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Ferris State University, Lake Superior, State University, Northern Michigan University, Saginaw Valley State University, University of Michigan-Dearborn, University of Michigan-Flint, and Wayne State University.

There is a virtual roundtable discussion on Zoom today at 10:30 a.m. to learn more about the MAAP initiatives with  Dr. Daniel J. Hurley, chief executive officer, Michigan Association of State Universities, Dr. Robert O. Davies, president, Central Michigan University and Mr. Joseph Vainner, director of university admissions, University of Michigan – Flint.
