New scholarship to be awarded in the School of Engineering and Computer Science
Engineering Promise Scholarship

Beginning with the fall 2019 incoming freshman class, OU’s School of Engineering and Computer Science will sponsor the new Engineering and Computer Science Academic Promise Scholarship. The scholarship will assist students with financial need, ensuring that all tuition and housing costs are covered, as well as provide opportunities for involvement within the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

"Education transforms people’s lives and provides prosperity,” said Louay Chamra, dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science. “This scholarship will make college education affordable to many students and help them achieve their aspirational goals."

The scholarship will be awarded over four academic years – eight consecutive fall and winter semesters. To be considered, students must be incoming freshmen, declare a major in the School of Engineering and Computer Science, live on campus and maintain a cumulative university GPA of 2.5. They also must maintain full-time enrollment and demonstrate financial need as indicated through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Once selected, students must join and maintain active involvement in the Society of Women Engineers or the National Society of Black Engineers. For more information about these organizations, visit oakland.edu/secs/student-resources

Ten awards will be available this fall. There is no separate application for the scholarship; admitted students will be automatically considered.
