Oakland University’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance will welcome countertenor John Holiday for a free concert on Friday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Flagstar Strand Theatre for the Performing Arts in Pontiac.
One of the world’s fastest-rising stars, Holiday deftly bridges genres from baroque to contemporary classical, jazz to spirituals, and brings his unique voice and charismas to every performance.
“John embodies what it is to be a well-rounded and expressive artist,” said Dr. Alta Marie Boover, assistant professor of voice. “At OU, our student musicians pursue serious study in all styles of music — classical, jazz and popular music. Mr. Holiday is an artist who uses his voice expertly and expressively in all those styles. We are just thrilled that our students will have the opportunity to learn from him — first by watching him perform, and then by working with him in a Master Class immediately afterwards.”
You can learn more about Holiday on his website or this compilation of his performances on NBC’s hit television show, The Voice.
This concert is sponsored by the Judd Family Endowed Fund.
Admission is free, but please reserve your ticket at www.flagstarstrand.com/event-details/ou-presents-john-holiday-countertenor.
