This summer, Oakland University Community Music will offer two unique summer camp programs for high school students that will keep them engaged and entertained.

“Having the opportunity to bring high school instrumental musicians to campus is a highlight of the Community Music program,” said OU Community Music Director Elizabeth Medvinsky. “The Summer Jazz Intensive, over the last few summers, and the Oakland Youth Brass Band, originating this past spring, have repeatedly created diverse groups of creative, motivated and energized high school musicians that we are proud to have as a part of SMTD. We are preparing for this summer to be no different and we open our doors to any students who are looking to further explore their musical world."

This year’s summer camps will include:

“What makes this camp unique is that students have the choice to form small groups from their current schools and perform as ensembles,” said Blackmon, special instructor of music (jazz) and director of the OU Jazz Band. “They may also register as an individual and be placed in an exciting group.”

Oakland University's highest priority in providing exemplary academic, athletic and social programs for youth is protecting the health, safety and welfare of all participants. All students must show proof of vaccination to participate in the camps.
