OU’s Undergraduate Admissions Office will host a special event from 1-4 p.m. on Aug. 3 for parents and students who want to learn more about transitioning from high school to college.

Are you ready for college?

Find out on Friday, Aug. 3 as Oakland University’s Undergraduate Admissions Office hosts a special event from 1-4 p.m. for parents and students who want to learn more about the college selection process, transitioning from high school to college, and financing a college education.

“Several studies have shown that completing rigorous academic curricula in high school and providing students with opportunities to learn about college, financial aid and campus life helps students overcome challenges, such as socioeconomic disadvantages,” said Dawn Aubry, director of Undergraduate Admissions.

According to Aubry, the event will include presentations on college readiness, financial aid, the honors college, and making the transition from high school to college, as well as an academic and student resources fair.

“Oakland University is committed to educating high school students and their families about what they can do to prepare more completely for college,” Aubry said. “In the past, many students who attended this event not only found themselves better prepared for post-secondary education, they also discovered the benefits of becoming a Golden Grizzly!”

Admission materials, worksheets and OU pens will be provided during the event, which will take place in the Banquet Rooms at the Oakland Center.

Reservations are required. To register, go to www.oakland.edu/visit.
