Center for Human Animal Interventions

CHAI Animal Law On Demand Course

Course Description

Staying current on trends, techniques and research is critical in ensuring optimal welfare of the practitioner, animal and client. These short, online courses will provide the necessary information to practitioners or those considering entering the field of Animal Assisted Interventions. This course will highlight the laws pertaining to service animals, therapy animals and emotional support animals as well as potential risks including dog bites. A certificate of completion is available upon successful passing of the quiz.

Facilitating the one-hour course is Ann Griffin, a licensed attorney in Michigan. Ann works full-time for the Michigan Humane Society as its director of advocacy, working on animal welfare legislation. She also facilitates The Michigan Humane Society's law enforcement training program, and is the chair of the animal law section of the State Bar of Michigan. Previously, Ann has taught animal law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
