Transition to High School Residential Program

The program is designed as an introduction to high school education for newly entering 9th grade students.  Students will reside for three days in our residence halls (dorms) with other transitional 9th grade students to receive guidance on how to make a successful adjustment from middle school to high school.

Participants will experience a taste of life as a college student.  During your stay with us you will be taken on a campus tour led by our program mentors to familiarize you with Oakland University.  In addition, you will receive: 1) academic presentations provided by various professional schools and academic departments, 2) informational programs in critical areas such as time management, study skills, peer pressure, conflict resolution and 3) social and recreational activities.

Avondale Residential Program

For more than ten years, the Pre-College Programs staff and OU’s faculty have provided a two day residential program to sixth grade students from the Avondale Meadows Middle School in Auburn Hills.  The program includes academic presentations by OU faculty and staff, a Music, Theatre and Dance event, time in the recreation center, and an overnight stay in the residence hall.  Funding for the program is provided by the school, students and their families.
