Basic Skills

In order to be eligible for Michigan Teacher Certification, students must have SAT or ACT scores on file with Oakland University.

Additional Michigan Tests for Teacher Certification are required in the subject area and elementary education in order to earn a Michigan Teaching Certificate. Details on tests are available at:

Below are resources for the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC). For additional information, visit the MTTC website.
MTTC Test 103 Resources (Elementary Education Test)
In the Elementary Education program, students will take the MTTC Test 103 (Elementary Education) prior to student teaching. This test consists of six subarea tests:
  • English Language Arts and World Languages
  • Social Studies
  • Visual and Performing Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Health Education and Physical Education

It is recommended that all students who take the test review the test objectives, practice sample questions, and take a practice test. The resources below are available to help.
