Economic Data Center Team

Dr. Jonathan Silberman is the founder and director of Oakland University’s Southeastern Michigan Economic Data Center. He also serves as a Professor of Economics at Oakland’s School of Business. With expertise in economic forecasting, regional economic development, technology transfer, and strategic positioning and competitor analysis, Dr. Silberman has published in prestigious journals and consulted with government leaders on economic development for several cities. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Florida State University. Before coming to Oakland University, Dr. Silberman held faculty and administrative positions at a variety of institutions including Arizona State University, University of Baltimore and Old Dominion University.

Senior Research Associate
Dr. Timothy Hodge is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Oakland University in the School of Business. His primary research interests are urban and regional economics, real estate economics, and public finance. As a Michigan native, he combines his academic interests with his roots and focuses on policies and practices affecting the local economy. Dr. Hodge has published articles on state and local issues in a number of journals. Prior to Oakland University, Dr. Hodge held research and faculty positions at Ford Credit, Allegheny College, Alma College, and Michigan State University.

Undergraduate Research Assistants
Undergraduate students at Oakland University gain valuable hands-on experience working closely with Dr. Silberman gathering and analyzing economic data.

Joe Jablonski is an undergraduate student at Oakland University in the Mathematics and Actuarial Science programs. His work on the Southeastern Michigan Economic Data Center is his first research appointment. Upon graduation, he hopes the combination of his education and experience will help him launch a career in actuarial science.

Jacob Shepard is an undergraduate student studying economics at Oakland University.  His favorite topics in economics are competitive strategy and behavioral.  After graduation, he hopes to further his education by attending graduate school.
