Vladimir Kalmsky

Vladimir Kalmsky was born in Russia and graduated from The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, department of theory, history, composition and piano, where he conducted research and wrote the work on "Polistylistic” in modern music based on the theory and compositions of Alfred Shnitke. Vladimir worked as a pianist, arranger, and band leader at the Moscow Concert Organization.

His fusion compositions based on the music of the famous contemporary Russian composers D.Shostakovich, R.Shchedrin, and A.Eshpai has been presented at conventions of the Union of the Soviet Composers. After moving to the United States Vladimir began to work as accompanist at Oakland University and The Flint Institute of Music. Accompanying for ballet, modern, tap, improvisation, choreography and character classes. Vladimir has worked with the numerous dance companies, including: the American Ballet Theatre, School of American Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Complexions, and the Dance Theater of Harlem among many others.
