The VARC at Oakland University is pleased to recognize established relationships with several of the leading anti-violence agencies in metro Detroit. Through their status as VARC community partners, these agencies have the opportunity to promote events and share announcements on the VARC website and electronic mailing list, and have access to eager, motivated Oakland University students ready to serve as interns or volunteers. As Oakland County’s only comprehensive program for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, HAVEN provides shelter, counseling, advocacy and educational programming to nearly 30,000 people each year. 

Beaumont Children's Hospital anti-bullying initiative, the No Bullying Live Empowered (NoBLE) Program offers guidance, education, and support to youth and families impacted by bullying. NoBLE serves as a community resource and partners with other stake holders for programs, including a 24hr hotline.

Oakland Family Services

Oakland Family Services is a private, non-profit, human services agency which has been serving families and children in Southeastern Michigan. Our consumers in many programs also receive services in their homes, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and in the work place. We help children and adults to set goals, explore alternatives and to resolve even the most difficult crises.

Care House
Care House is a child-friendly, family-centered facility that centralizes and coordinates the complex investigation, prosecution and treatment of child physical and/or sexual abuse. Our goals are to minimize the stress associated with the investigation, help the child and non-offending family members through the prosecution phase and provide support to begin the healing process.

Turning Point
Turning Point’s mission is to provide programs and resources that enable victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to regain control of their lives. As the only shelter in Macomb County specializing in meeting the needs of domestic violence victims, programming includes individual and group counseling, legal and community advocacy, a 24/7 crisis line, children’s services, prevention education and a volunteer/intern program. All services are completely free of charge.

Young Women’s Christian Association
The YWCA of the USA is the oldest autonomous continuous women’s membership movement in the United States of America. Approximately 225 YWCA’s operate across the United States, in one hundred twenty-two countries, representing twenty-five million women, girls and families. The movement’s mission, “the YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all” is the guiding principle for all YWCA’s.


Vista Maria
Founded in 1883, Vista Maria has a long history of healing the most abused, neglected and traumatized girls from communities throughout our State. Our mission is to deliver innovative care, support, treatment and education to vulnerable youth so that they heal, believe in their worth, and build the skills needed to succeed. We are able to achieve our mission through an array of specialty residential treatment programs as well as community-based programs. Although there are times that a youth requires intensive and specialized mental health treatment and education, we also strive to end pervasive abuse and neglect through our community programs which include: education through two on-campus charter schools; general and treatment foster care; youth assistance programming; independent living; transition services; and after-school programming.

 SASHA Center
SASHA CENTER is a sexual assault service, prevention and educational agency which is designed to provide culturally specific educational/support groups to self-identified survivors of sexual assault. SASHA CENTER provides: Prevention and educational presentations/workshops to schools, communities, churches, corporations and other organizations to raise awareness of sexual assault with an emphasis on communities of color and especially the African American community.
