Teaching Philosophy

I try to create an environment in which students feel comfortable and welcome to express their opinions freely as long as they do so diplomatically. My classroom is a forum for open dialogue about many issues that are relevant in life. I stress the importance of multiple perspectives in hopes of fostering critical thinking – a basic skill that all students should demonstrate at the college level. When they feel comfortable displaying their voices and when they understand the voices of others, they are more likely to write with confidence.

Teaching at OU since 2004.
