We encourage you to get involved and further your academic success during your second year at Oakland University.
Connecting with your professional academic advisers is very important. We encourage you to not only find time to meet with advisers this year, but to take full advantage of our campus resources and activities through our engagement areas.
Reasons to Engage
Exploring different options through job shadowing, informational interviewing or major/minor information sessions may help you to find a major or a minor that best fits your values, interests and skills.
It’s never too early to start building your resume and thinking about your future after graduation.
Seek out internships and related work and begin building your network.

- Participate in a job shadowing experience
- Attend a career fair or career mixer
- Major or career information session
Completing academic research allows you to build connections with experts in your field. This resume-building activity can also help you to hone your interest for your future job search.

Campus connections and getting involved in the local community help you to build connections that make college enjoyable, while also preparing you for your future career.
