Be Prepared for Emergencies

Emergencies can happen at any time — do you know what to do?

Oakland University maintains a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and an active Crisis Management Team to help prevent, respond to, and recover from emergencies that may impact the campus community.

This website outlines key parts of that plan that directly relate to your personal safety. We encourage you to explore each section to learn what actions to take in various emergency situations. Remember, trying to plan during an emergency is too late. Take time now to develop your own safety plan and be prepared before an emergency occurs.

When a significant event impacts campus, OU will post critical alerts and updates in a red emergency banner at the top of the Oakland University homepage and all OU Police Department webpages. During normal operations, this banner will not be visible.
