Oakland University will not hold on-campus, face-to-face classes until noon on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to severe weather conditions. Scheduled synchronous courses are not impacted. Faculty who wish to move their face-to-face morning classes to remote must notify their students. Students may not be penalized for non-attendance. If instruction is moved online, faculty must provide make-up materials in an appropriate format. Laboratory sections scheduled in the morning may be rescheduled with advance notice. No course, whether online, or in person, will have any assignments or exams due in the morning on January 26. Students unsure of the status of their classes should contact their instructors for course-specific information. Faculty will have flexibility in choosing the modality of their courses for the remainder of the day but must notify their students accordingly as soon as possible.
Staff are expected to report at noon and work remotely, if able, in the morning. Please check with your supervisor.
Campus activities outside of classes after noon remain scheduled unless communicated otherwise.
The university appreciates the patience and cooperation of campus community members as efforts are made to balance OU's commitment to delivering quality educational programs with the need to ensure personal safety during severe weather events.
Due to current University Policy 482 being modified through shared governance, the university is implementing interim guidelines until the new policy is in place.
