Amy Music is a dedicated Instructor at the ESL Institute at Oakland University. She brings her diverse background and passion for language education to the classroom. After earning a BA from Michigan State University and working in Information Technology, her interests shifted. This led her to pursue a career in Linguistics and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Transitioning from a Spartan to a Grizzly, she earned her MA and a Graduate TESOL Certificate while gaining valuable experience as an ESL Graduate Assistant.

In her role at OU, Amy teaches a comprehensive range of language skills including writing, reading, listening and speaking, as well as academic communication to English Language Learners of all fluency levels. She designs and teaches courses tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Amy has created and conducted ESL courses in a variety of formats: in-person, hybrid, HyFlex, synchronous on-line, and asynchronous on-line. Her versatile approach allows her to reach students through different modalities, ensuring that all learners have access to high-quality instruction.

As a Curriculum Developer and Course Master Creator, she has designed Open Education Resources for Advanced Writing and Reading, making education more accessible and affordable for students. Beyond her work at the university, Amy has also applied her expertise in the private sector, developing and implementing individualized language courses for corporate employees and their families. Amy says the best part of her job is witnessing her students achieve their goals and reach even higher aspirations in their academic and professional journeys.
