Information for Casual/Temporary Employees
Prior to your casual/temporary orientation, please review the following information. Typically, your orientation is usually on your first day in 430 Wilson Hall. If you need to schedule your orientation, please contact the Employment Office at (248) 370-3489. Please call us ahead of time if you require any special accommodations. Please note: You enter Wilson Hall on the 2nd floor, and the office is on the 4th floor.
New casual/temp employees can expect to:
- Turn in the completed new hire paperwork
- Sign up for payroll direct deposit
- Receive your Grizzly ID number

Please print, complete, and bring the following to your new hire orientation.
- Employee Information Form
- Form W-4
- Form MI-W-4
- Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification (Use Firefox)
- Payroll Direct Deposit Form (Select Direct Deposit Form from the menu)
New hire must complete a casual/temporary application on the OU job website. Create an account, click on home, casual/temporary positions, find the casual/temporary direct hire position and apply for it by filling in the application. You will receive a confirmation number once you have completed the application.
In addition, you MUST bring:
- Identification and employment eligibility documents - (Please see page 2 of the I-9 document for acceptable types of identification)
- Social security card - We will need to see your original social security card to verify that we are entering your name onto our payroll records exactly as you are known by the IRS.
As a casual or temporary employee, you are not eligible for benefits through Oakland University. However, please refer to the Important Notice on Health Insurance Marketplace Coverage Options under Health Care Reform.
