English was not Mena Hannakachl’s first language, but because of opportunities at OU she was
able to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Writing and Rhetoric, win the Keeper of the Dream award and
publish her memoir. Hannakachl was active on campus working as a peer mentor at the Center
for Multicultural Initiatives and as an admissions ambassador.
