In today's world of information, data are generated at a speed that we cannot handle. We have heard of many stories about data being gathered just for the sake of gathering it or about a lot of effort and resources being spent in data acquisition. Yet little is done to extract useful information from the data. Statistics has been proven to be an efficient tool in deciphering data. Many statistical methods are developed to reduce data dimensions, to uncover key features, and to improve properties of product and processes effectively.

The Statistical Consulting Service of Oakland University has been in existence for over a decade. Its main functions include servicing the specific requests of faculty, staff and students of Oakland University and providing statistical advice to the university community. In addition, the statistics faculty in this service have over 30 years of cumulative experience in working with industrial partners from the automobile manufacturers and their suppliers. The staff have completed projects dealing with continuous monitoring of customer satisfaction surveys, warranty analysis, measures of process capability with GDT specifications, variation simulation analyses, empirical modeling of degradation studies, experimentation with multiple but conflicting criteria for product design, applications of multivariate techniques on door panel geometry investigation, and many other challenging projects. Moreover, the staff have developed and conducted training courses and seminars on-site for the big three automobile companies. Our faculty have expertise in industrial statistics, attribute data modeling, multivariate methodology, statistical process control, design of experiments for quality improvement, reliability methodology, time series forecasting and general statistical modeling.

If you think that we can be of service to your organization, please call (248) 370-3430 and set up an appointment with the Statistical Consulting Service. Your first consultation is free of charge. Additional sessions and required services will be evaluated and a cost estimate will be provided.
