The Oakland University community extends its deepest compassion and warmest wishes to all who have been injured and impacted by the horrific shootings at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills on Saturday. As we keep our neighbors in our thoughts, we share a sense of outrage that senseless violence continues to occur in our society, and especially, in our own community.
Oakland University remains committed to standing alongside our community in uniting to put an end to violence. Furthermore, we offer all the resources of OU to support the victims in every way possible in the wake of this heartbreaking incident.
On the OU campus and beyond, we encourage community members to work together to focus on violence prevention. Please remember to remain alert and aware of your surroundings and to report any concerning activities or behaviors you might witness. Learn to protect yourselves and others if violence does erupt.
Let us create a society that effectively balances personal freedoms with the utmost priority of protecting all human life.
